I am Dr. David Johnson a chiropractor and physical therapist in Highland Park and Lake Bluff. I am the director of North Shore Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation. I started as a chiropractor in Lake Forest, Il in 1988. I integrated physical therapy into my practice in 1990.

This last two weeks have been pretty busy with my office’s participating in the Highland Park Firecracker Run and putting on a barbecue for the Lake Bluff Fourth of July parade.

It was good to be out for the Firecracker Run, we had a host of volunteers, handing out water and giving chair massages. I got the opportunity to see some old patients (all of whom were doing well) and meet some people that should come into North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation for care. People were complaining of their knees and backs and I explained that with proper care many of their conditions could be helped with a combination of physical therapy and chiropractic. I gave some instruction on stretching and some on how to ice to limit inflammation. Overall the turn out was good and I would like to thank all of the volunteers, especially Alexi and Eva, our Oakton Community College interns, who did the massages.

The Lake Bluff Fourth of July Parade was a totally different event. For the past two years my friend Jeff Belmonti, his son Harry and myself have put on a barbecue for people in the community at North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation’s Lake Bluff location. We gave out over 100 free hamburgers, 100 free hot dogs and 200 bottles of water. This year we had more volunteers to pass out water. My wife and her friend Coca helped while my daughter’s just watched the parade. Again I got to connect with old patients from both Lake forest and Lake Bluff. I also met new people who were interested in our practice.

Though this type of work doesn’t necessarily bring patients in the door, it is the kind of thing that my clinics have done over the years to give back to our communities. North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation is locally owned and operated and community involvement is part of our makeup. I have fond memories of passing out Frisbees with “I got my disc fixed at North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation” written on them for over a decade of Lake Bluff fourth of July Parades. I remember being at Pumpkin Chases and bike races as if they were yesterday.

Community involvement has helped put North Shore Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation on the map as well as kept it fresh in the minds of our patients. Thank you Highland Park, Lake Bluff and Lake Forest for having such great communities to work in.
